TRAFFIC & POPULATION
-
Sam Calhoun (Across The Way Productions) says “FloydFest will have approximately 15,000 visitors.” 1
-
FloydFest will bring 5000+ cars on Route 221 during festivals (nearly 3,000 extra vehicles on peak days) 2
-
VDOT: “There will definitely be queuing (backup) on the highway.” 3
-
FloydFest proposed that semi-trucks should be detoured from Route 221 onto the small secondary roads. So far, VDOT has pushed back hard, citing “safety concerns” and “impact to local residents.” 4

ALMOST ZERO NEW REVENUE
“The impact [of FloydFest leaving Patrick County] will not be as substantial as some may think it was...[Sam Calhoun] said he paid a little bit over $12,000 a year in taxes.”
- James Houchins, Patrick County Tourism & Recreation Director 1
Will $12,000 a year pay for building the “access road to FloydFest” that Supervisors Turman and DeVito suggested? 2
Is $12,000 worth the added strain on our volunteer emergency services and our sheriff’s office?
FloydFest is a bad investment for our county.

ABOUT US
We are a grassroots movement of Floyd residents who have lived, worked, farmed, and raised our families here in Floyd County for many years. To us, Floyd County is one of the most beautiful and special places on Earth. Floyd is where we call home and where we hope our kids will call home too.
Inspired by love for our home county, we are compelled to speak out against a menacing threat to the peace, safety, and tranquility we have known in Floyd for generations. We started Save Our Floyd to have a voice, so we can share these troubling developments with like-minded Floyd residents who deserve to know the facts. We hope that through working together as a community, we can save the Floyd that we know and love.
If you have questions, please email us at info@SaveOurFloyd.com, or write to us at PO Box 43, Check, VA 24072.
